  1. Code View for Maps

    BizTalk Mapper is a great tool. However, there are scenarios where mapping would be faster via code. It would be ideal to have a code view of the mapper so we can work with graphic mapping or coding.

      • WCF Publishing Wizard needs to have export/import/command line support

        When I am building WCF Applications I need to recreate the original WCF Wizard settings and rerun them several times before I achieve the result I am looking for.
        The WCF Wizard runs once, exposes some XML that details what it is doing, but once that runs, the information is lost and I have to rebuilt the configuration.
        I want to be able to import that data, use it as my starter for another process and then at the end, have a master that I can use to regenerate over and over again.

          • Use JSON as BizTalks internal format instead of XML

            What would we gain by this? Less storage usage, less memory utilization , all in all better performance.

            • ESB Toolkit silent configuration

              It is not possible to script in a silent mode the configuration of the ESB toolkit. The ESB Configuration Tool cannot be started with parameters or with a response file.
              When we need to setup a new environment automatically, it is needed to avoid manual tasks.

              • Enable timestamp comparison on sftp adapter

                The ftp adapter has the feature "time stamp comparison" this should also exist for sftp.
                Sometimes you are not allowed to delete source file, if that is the case the current sftp adapter will continue downloading the same file again and again.

                • Biztalk Server Administration Console stops working when you upgrade to a new Windows 10 version

                  Following an upgrade to a new build of Windows 10 e.g. Anniversary Update or Creators Update. Biztalk Server 2016 Administration Console MMC snap-in stops working and you cannot run or deploy any apps.

                  The only way to get it working is to do an installation repair which is costly in time.

                  Please update Biztalk so it is resilient to future Windows 10 upgrades and does not require a repair every time

                      We are currently looking into an Office 365 adapter for sending e-mails. There are no plans currently for Dynamics 365. And, of course, both of these are available in Azure through Logic Apps and using the Logic App Adapter in BizTalk.

                      Host BizTalk Server within Service Fabric to take advantage of Reliable Collections, data partitioning, scale out processing, zero-downtime upgrades etc.

                      • Support change tracking and reporting

                        Track changes made within the admin console, and enable a view into the history of those changes, e.g. with a right-click on the artefact and selecting “View history”. This would help significantly in troubleshooting issues with an installation, especially where things were working and then stopped for some reason.

                        • Functoid Script Editor have edit type code validation

                          The BizTalk Script editor exposes a simple Script editor with no code validation. The script editor should present a much more Visual Studio code experience increasing user effectiveness.

                          • Set MAX DOP for MessageBox on database level!

                            Thanks to a new feature in SQL Server 2016, we can have the BizTalk MessageBox running with MAXDOP set to 1 on the same instance with databases that have MAXDOP set to 0. Unfortunately, the BizTalk configuration still sets the MAX DOP value to 1 at instance level, instead of database level. https://sqltechblog.com/2016/10/04/understanding-the-new-maxdop-settings-in-sql-2016/

                            • Make SSO first class citizen to store configuration.

                              Make SSO first class citizen to store configuration.

                              A lot of people are using SSO for storage of application variables.
                              The BTDF has some tooling for this.

                              Why not make it default functionality. Create some helper classes to make life easy.

                              For Example Create a class like this:

                              Class Person : BizTalk.SSO.PropertyBag
                              {
                              prop Name;
                              prop Address;
                              }

                              By inheriting from the propertybag sso class you get functionality (analog to xmldocument) like

                              Person.Load("ConfigName")
                              Person.Save("ConfigName")

                              This would make life very easy.

                                Better (easier) "no downtime deployment" story than the side-by-side approach (as best described in book Pro BizTalk 2009).

                                • A Managed Open Source GIT Repository for Custom Pipelines and other Extensions.

                                  Devs over the years have written many handy Custom Pipelines and many other BizTalk Extensions. It would be ideal to have a managed open source GIT repository for them.

                                  Something similar to the WebJobs SDK Extensions Repo.

                                  • Allow Delete of Send Ports or Receive Ports from <All Artifacts>

                                    <All Artifacts> under Applications shows all receive ports and send ports created across multiple applications, which provides lots of good visibility to entire environment setup or in case we want to view all artifacts. However, sometimes there is a need to delete multiple ports at the same time across different applications, strangely it does not allow to delete ports from <All Artifacts>, nor it provides an easy way to reach to the application in which that send port or receive port is defined.
                                    Advantage
                                    - Productivity increase
                                    - Maintaining receive and send ports becomes lot easier as from one place…

                                        When you create a map it would be very handy to use a variable or a .NET class as either an input or an output

                                        • Starting and stopping multiple applications should work, even when they depend on each other

                                          When you currently select multiple applications to start or stop, you get:

                                          1) multiple dialog boxes, asking to start/stop each individual application, regardless of dependency. Better would be to have only one start/stop dialog box, covering all of the applications at once.

                                          2) There is no check on dependencies between them. Selecting multiple dependent applications to stop for example, may end up stopping applications only to see them resulting in error, because the order that the Admin Console chose to stop them in does not reflect the references/dependencies between them.

                                          This is frustrating to say the least, because now we…
